Much of the fun and enthusiasm at Kawanhee revolves around the Greys and Maroons —the two competing teams in camp. Every boy enrolled is included on one of the teams and endeavors to win as many points as possible for his team. The interest and excitement increase as both groups gather for the Saturday night camp fires. The names of those who have won special medals and passed achievement levels during the week are read. Then the big moment arrives. The score is announced.
The most important objective of this summer-long rivalry is to engage boys in the spirit of competition and, above all, to encourage fun with a purpose.
