The Kawanhee Centennial Celebration has been reschedule to August 17-21, 2022 See below for our latest communication about the reunion.
From the latest Kawanhee Centennial email communication sent March 30, 2021:
Dear Kawanhee Community,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones in good health.
As you know, we have spent a lot of time this winter discussing plans for the postponed Centennial Celebration in light of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. After careful examination and difficult conversations, we have decided to reschedule the Centennial Celebration to next summer, August 17-21st, 2022.
Given the current status of the COVID 19 pandemic and the ongoing restrictions on large gatherings set forth by the CDC and the state of Maine, we will not be able to host the reunion in 2021 in the manner it is intended. Because our expected attendance for the reunion is over 500 people, it is considered a high-risk event and things like hugging, contact sports, singing, sharing meals and sleeping in lodges with those outside of one’s household, would not be permitted. From a practical standpoint, we also know that ongoing health and travel restrictions may limit who is able to attend.
Our committee believes that reunions are for embracing one another, enjoying the activities we enjoyed as children, breaking bread together in the dining hall, bunking with old friends, singing around a campfire, and catching up with as many members of the Kawanhee family as possible. Without the ability to do these things a reunion just would not be the same.
While we are thrilled that the gates to camp will be open again this summer, we also take very seriously the increased difficulty and responsibility of opening. Liz, Mark, and the entire camp staff are embarking on what will surely be an extremely rewarding but also particularly challenging summer. Our priority is to support their efforts and do everything we can to ensure their success and the future of the Camp Kawanhee summer camp experience. We feel that tacking the reunion on to the end of an already complicated summer would be compromising to those efforts.
It has been a long year for everyone, but at this moment we are filled with so much hope for the future. So please join us, in saving the dates:
Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 – Sunday, August 21st, 2022.
If you have already registered for the reunion, you have three options*:
The FIRST is to ROLL OVER your registration for the rescheduled 2022 celebration.
The SECOND is to cancel your registration and receive a full REFUND of your registration fees.
The THIRD is to DONATE to the Frank Foundation some or all of registration fees already paid.
Unless we hear otherwise from you, we will automatically roll over your registration and continue to reserve your spot for the rescheduled reunion. Cancellations and refunds will be available at any time before July 2022.
Sarah Schechter, our event coordinator, is ready to hear from you should you have any questions or if you would like to request a refund or donation transfer. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions or concerns at email@example.com.
Space is limited, our maximum capacity for the reunion is 425 people. Advanced registration is required for ALL participants. Once registration is sold out we will create a waiting list, however those on the waiting list are not guaranteed attendance at the event.
Please know that registration prices reflect our commitment to keeping the Centennial as accessible to as many families as possible, and we do not envision making a profit.
